”HAPPY”, The New Concept Store by Spinneys

According to The Daily Star who did the interview to Spinneys CEO Michael Wright, the store’s new concept “Happy” which is set to get its start off in Lebanon will definitely be extended to other countries in the Middle East, specifically in Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Spinneys’ introduction of a discount store is such a smart way of enhancing their retail strategy which is of course have other advantages and benefits not only for the store but most especially to the consumers. It is very facile for the British CEO of Spinneys to embark on this concept, which has also been applied by both the American and European market. Yes, these two big markets were already implementing the same retail market development that Happy in Lebanese market will about to begin with. And since it seems effective in U.S and Europe, there’s no doubt it will also be that effective in the Middle East.

Trusting Happy means trusting Spinneys. What Spinneys CEO Michael Wright wants to emphasize as well is that the role of being a discounter store is not just to give opportunity to the class C consumers but also offering the same opportunity to the class B buyers with a purpose to allow these people save money. It is in fact a smart way for buyers to make their shopping from discount stores to make great savings on basic needs and supplies. Spinneys and HAPPY surely will make a tremendous tandem to become the best retailer market in Lebanon with guaranteed best quality products and best reasonable prices.

CEO Michael Wright believes that starting a discount store in Lebanon is reasonable and really a hit, considering that aside from the customer’s assurance of getting the opportunity to get lower or discounted prices on retail products or items, they can also assure of its good quality. It can’t be denied that some of the market retailers in the country are not in good standing due to poor quality of goods they offer, even if you say they come in cheap price. Quality of products and services must not be sacrificed in lieu of having discounted or lower prices.

CEO Michael Wright of Spinneys and His Involvement in KidzMondo


Showing fascination towards children and with his act of service, Spinneys CEO Michael Wright has willingly commenced full support to KidzMondo. It is a one of a kind theme park project that was specially designed to expose children to a new and captivating environment for learning. The set-up of this child-sized facility replicates an actual image of a city depending on the local setting or scenario wherein these children from 2 to 14 years old can play different roles that they want, which gives them an extensive opportunity to learn more.

There have been growing number of activities and various services at KidzMondo (the revolutionary city) for children. Having this initiative really help children as it prepare them on how to act and and how to behave when they get into the more complex real environment. It allow them to be familiarized about culture, local norms and tradition. This is one of the best ways for kids to learn and personally experience some of the bustle of the adult world, including occupations, infrastructure and the essential of money, just what it is like in the real life.

Copious educational activities are available and highly takes lead in helping children to explore what potentials they’ve got in them which they can fully develop and engage with further in the future. These activities were intentionally planned out to be pedagogical and more fun of course. Plus, are based on the concept of edutainment, (education and entertainment) combined. The comeback of Tesco products at Spinneys

Tesco, the least among the known best big three supermarket dealers in the whole world has been reintroduced to all of branches of Spinneys that have been located widely in the Middle East region and in North Africa.


The reinstatement of Tesco products to the lanes of every Spinneys stores including Lebanon brought a lot of excitements to various shoppers as they can now choose from number of product choices. These include items from foods to beverages, deli and frozen products, to beauty, health and personal care products, to house cleaning products, to outdoor and car care products, and many more.

Spinneys’ adaptation of Tesco products is such a mere proof how serious it is to make a great change in the way people from Lebanon do their shopping. This serves as a response to the growing demand of consumers for a much wider variation of grocery products to select to.

According to the recent news, Tesco has an equivalent turnover of 54.9 [billion pounds] or 66.8 [billion euros] - ranking third among its other competitors. The world’s leader Wal-Mart tops number one with corresponding 109 [billion dollars] and Carrefour (second) with 86.9 [billion Euros] claims.  In the previous years, though smaller in size compared to Carrefour, Tesco made an even bigger profit.

Today, it still holds an excellent stand or position in terms of market share, more specifically in the UK.  Yes, Tesco’s strong foundation is in UK and with its strategic planning and improvement schemes, no doubt it was able to strengthened its stand globally.
